Wicked Melbourne has made its way to Australia

In July of 2008, Wicked Melbourne made it to the stages of Australia. This is an astonishing story of two witches – the good and the bad – from the magical land of Oz (yes the Wizard of Oz). The emerald shading of the Wicked Witch of the West surrounds the stage and captivates audiences as many show up clothed in green.

Wicked Melbourne has been touring since 2003, and currently has no end date in sight. With its most recent landing in Australia, the Broadway show still captures the attention of billions of fans across the world. In just six short years, the show has grossed over $1.2-billion and has amazed over 15 million audiences. The Wicked Production House is definitely proud of their success along with the expansion into Australia.

Wicked Melbourne is a story about the two witches from the old story the Wizard of Oz. The good and the bad witch know and befriend each other as children, yet begin to lead separate lives, as they grow older. This story is very realistic to anyone – who has had a friend – watching. Everyone can relate to this story, and at least one of the main characters.

Even though the witches are from the Wizard of Oz, Wicked Melbourne was book written by Winnie Holzman, which was based off of a novel done by Gregory Maguire – the entire story is amazing. The combination of the story, and award winning music composer – Stephen Schwartz – brings Wicked Melbourne to life – every time it reaches the stage.

Wicked Melbourne still captivates audiences six years after its original debut. In February 2008, it was recorded that the show had sold over $2 million in ticket sales. Additionally, reviews have been astonishing. In Australia – alone – over $1.5 million in ticket sales were made by the second day – July 13, 2008. There is much talk about Wicked Melbourne – it is not just hype – it really is that good.

Wicked Melbourne offers a little something for everyone – of all ages – to understand and enjoy. Matinee times are even set up so families can enjoy the performance without interrupting dinner or bed times. (Wednesday and Sunday matinee times are at 1 p.m. Saturday matinee time is 2 p.m.)

The Regent Theatre opened in 1996 after an extensive renovation; and has hosted many different entertaining productions. The Regent Theatre is now hosting this amazing show making for an even more glamorous show than expected.

Whatever you are planning, a night or weekend away from home, a family outing, or simply enjoying a show – Wicked Melbourne is the answer! Wicked Melbourne will provide you with hours of entertainment you cannot receive anywhere else. You will be so enthralled by the story and the show you will think you are there. (There is a luxurious bed and breakfast – Georgian Court – located near the theatre for those of you staying the night or entire weekend in the area.)
