When You Play The Guitar You Will Tap Into An Primeval Power
One of the most cited differences between humans and the rest of the animal kingdom is our ability to communicate complex ideas, thoughts, plans and emotions. Of course there are plenty of other animals that have basic communication abilities, but none come close to humans in the richness and complexity of human language.
One powerful method that humans have always had over the years is the ability communicate complex, thoughts, emotions and ideas through music. Music has been an integral part of human society even before the agricultural revolution several thousand years ago. Many remains of ancient cave dwellings contain evidence of music and musical instruments.
Studying the evolution of instruments is a fascinating subject. Starting with percussion instruments, and moving along to stringed instruments, followed woodwind and brass instruments, and finally with electrical instruments of today, it seems that musical instruments have always been a part of our history.
Probably the most popular hobby today is playing some sort of musical instrument. Many homes have a piano, and most adults today have childhood memories of being “forced” to take piano lessons. However, there is one instrument of choice that is overwhelmingly the most popular among those that choose on their own to play an instrument. The guitar.
The guitar is far and away the most chosen instrument for a variety of reasons. Some like it due to it’s portability. Some like the amazingly low price. Still others like it because it is fairly straightforward to learn, and you don’t really need to depend on other instruments to play an entire song.
Those have made the decision to learn the guitar know what a wonderful feeling of expression it brings. Being able to play a beautiful melody is one of the true gifts of being human. Once you start to learn the guitar, you too will know the fantastic benefits that come with it.
