The History of Horse Racing Aintree

Horse racing aintree is completely dominated by one of the worlds most famous horse races. The Grand National. The first grand national that took place was in 1839 and was won by a horse called lottery. Since that first race this event has gained in such popularity that there are not many people who have not heard of it.

The grand national at liverpool aintree is a steeplechase and run over two circuits which cover four and half miles. The race is usually held at the beginning of April and on a Saturday.

As I said earlier many people will never bet on horses for the remainder of the year but will check the odds out for liverpool aintree and have a flutter. There is something magical and exciting about the grand national that makes people stop what they are doing and watch this event.

Although there are many notable moments in the race courses history one of the most memorable has to be in 1997 when a “bomb alert” on grand national day cleared the race course. It was a major exercise to evacuate so many race goers quickly and safely. The race was re-scheduled for the Monday at 5.00 pm and the winner was Lord Gyllene.

The grand national at liverpool aintree will become a yearly outing for you once you’ve tried it once. It is impossible not to get overcome with all the excitement and atmosphere of the event. Its addictive and you will be back!
