Super Mario’s New Galaxy in Wii

Super Mario Galaxy was introduced by Nintendo EAD Tokyo and issued by Nintendo for Wii. It was first released on November 1, 2007 in Japan followed by releases in the United States on November 12, 2007, in Canada on November 14, 2007, in Europe on November 16, 2007, in Australia and Asia on November 27, 2007 and last in South Korea on September 4, 2008. After Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine, this is the 3rd 3D released of Mario series.

The main character on this video game is Mario. His goal is to rescue Princess Peach from enemy, Bowser. Levels of games are set on different galaxies with minor planets and worlds and each stage can increase power like gravity effects and new power-ups.

Outer space is the main setting of the game. Mario moves from galaxy to galaxy to accumulate Power Stars but he needs to complete the quest and defeat all enemies. Each galaxy is composed of planets and other space objects that player will discover. This 3D platformer game uses a new physics system that acknowledge for a unique feature. However, movements to a 2-dimentional axis are limited.

As of December 31, 2008, Nintendo had sold 7.66 million copies of Super Mario Galaxy worldwide. This game is the second best-selling non-bundled Wii and ranked sixth best-selling Nintendo-published Wii game. Based on Famitsus report, Super Mario Galaxy has sold 912,746 copies in Japan as of July 9, 2008. And since the launch of the Wii, as of April 1, 2008 Super Mario Galaxy has become the third best-selling video game in Canada according to the NPD Group.

This 3D platformer game is considered as the highest rated game of all time according to TopTenReview and MobyGames. Super Mario Galaxy was the excellent game for Wii based on Nintendo Power. The one and only Mario game to be on the top list.

Super Mario Galaxy received above average recognition and toward the end of 2007; the best-selling 3D platformer game was named Game of the Year by IGN, GameSpot, Nintendo Power, GameTrailers, Edge and Yahoo! Games. It also received the Adventure Game of the Year award from the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences at the Interactive Achievement Awards last February 7, 2008.
