Robin Williams Tickets for “Weapons of Mass Destruction”
Robin Williams has had a long career pleasing audiences with his amazing performances. Whether he is in a comedic or dramatic role, Williams’ is always at the top of his game, leaving his fans with memorable experiences. He has not only held a long career full of recognizable works, but he is one of the highest rated entertainers of all times.
Movies like “Mrs. Doubtfire” make us laugh together as a family. “Death to Smoochy”, while funny, was a bit more dark. He can then turn around and play in an extremely dramatic movie like “What Dreams May Come”. It is clear – by this list of movies – that he can play just about any role he is put in – and he does it well. His most recent comedic show, “Weapons of Self Destruction”, will offer nothing but superior comedy as he has in the past.
Robin Williams was raised in Michigan, but is originally from Chicago. Surprisingly, Williams was a very quiet and shy child. He did perform impression of his Grandfather for his mother, but that was about it. (Hard to believe when you watch the man today!)
It wasn’t until high school that Williams began to crawl out of his shell. He joined the drama club, which is where he began to gain confidence and got recognized by one the greatest schools in the U.S. – Juilliard. He was one of only 20 students accepted – their freshman year – into the school. To top this off, he was one of two students allowed to attend their advanced program (the other student was Christopher Reeves). These names are proof that the schooling the received was the best investment of their lives.
One of Williams’ first roles was as Mork on an old TV show called “Mork and Mindy”. Mork was an alien who had landed in Boulder, Colorado and was to make a life there. This role was demanding, as Williams had to be a comedian, yet be serious at other times. This is where he was defined as an exceptional comedian with rapid-fire delivery. His career quickly began to expand and he started playing in roles where comedy was his main concern. (His characters always had a deeper meaning to them, it just wasn’t obvious.)
Some of Williams’ most noticeable roles were in “Good Morning Vietnam” and “The Birdcage”. These two movies were part of what got him where he is today! He also performed the voice of the genie on Disney’s “Aladdin”. This role opened doors for Williams, as it proved his ability to perform as a behind-the-scenes animated voice as well.
During the 1970′s and 1980′s, Robin Williams was performing many different stand-up comedy routines, which often sold out. He also performed on three HBO specials, in 1978 – “Off the Wall”, in 1982 – “An Evening with Robin Williams” and in 1986 – “Robin Williams: Live at the Met”. He also performed in a one-man show called “Robin Williams Live on Broadway”, which was very successful for him. He even made it to number 13 on Comedy Central’s list – “100 Greatest Stand-Ups of All Time.”
Fans and peers noticed every step, in his career – this is how he has gotten where he is today. Tickets are currently being sold for his most recent production – “Weapons of Self Destruction”. Williams is one of the most skilled performers around. He has spent his life entertaining audiences; do not miss your chance to see him once again.
