Its a 12.3 megapixel DX format camera with advanced features and great processing power. Nikon designated it as the ultimate in professional DX format performance. It offers high resolution and high speed shutter response.
With its rechargeable EN-EL3e Lithium-ion battery, it can shoot up to 6 frames per second for up to 100 JPEG images. But if you use it with the optional MB-D10 battery pack, it can shoot up to 8 frames per second. The MB-D10 battery grip provides a vertical grip and additional shutter release. Other battery options include eight AA batteries, EN-EL4 or EN-EL4a.

The Active D-lighting technology enables the camera to control light intensity and exposure, thus eliminating the need for meticulous editing. Nikon D300 digital SLR camera features low-noise image files ranging from ISO 200 to 3200. It has expanded range of options that allows you to produce remarkable clean image files. The options are Lo-1 option, which is ISO 100 equivalent, or Hi-1, which is equivalent to ISO 6400.
Featuring an intelligent array of 15 cross-type sensors and 36 horizontal sensors, its Multi-CAM 3500DX autofocus module uses color and light information to accurately track the subject. You can use normal mode or choose from Single Area AF, Dynamic area AF, Group Dynamic AF, or Closest Subject Priority Dynamic AF.
There is also the selectable 12-bit or 14-bit A/D conversion or the different bit-depths which are available for you to choose from. You can choose smaller image files that are faster to process. If you want larger files, the operating speed will be slower but your files will have smooth tonal gradations. So, either way, youll have good quality images.
When shooting in a studio or in a remote situation, you can use the two Live View shooting modes. These shooting modes are the handheld mode and the tripod mode. And to prevent dusts from accumulating, there is the dust reduction system or the self-cleaning ultrasonic sensor unit.
