Mush Sport for A Cure

The sport of sleigh riding of commonly known as dog mushing is a dog sporting event that is considered to be Alaska’s state sport. Dog mushing generally involves a sport competition race with a group of dogs on a sleigh. It is primarily done on winter time where ice covers the most of the lands. The breeds of dogs that are acceptable for mushing range from big Siberian huskies to small Chow Chow dogs. Dog Mushing is a sport most dog enthusiasts would always love to see.

The Mush for A Cure is a fundraising event in Grand Marais, Minnesota organized to raise funds for The National Breast Cancer Foundation. The event is a non-competition festival that will feature dog mushing. Spectators will have the chance to mingle and meet the participants in the event. No prizes or awards will be handed out as the event is not a competition. It is going to be a fun-filled event. It will be a friendly game to support the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

The National Breast Cancer Foundation is a non- stock, non- profit organization that seeks to promote cure and increase public awareness on breast cancer and its effects. Reports have given information that almost 7 out of 10 females are in danger of acquiring virulent cancer cells. The National Breast Cancer organization aims to provide early detection of cancer cells before it becomes a full blown cancer. Free mammograms and hospital prevention supports are given to female as part of the Foundations advocacy.

It is heartwarming to know that there are a lot of organizations focused in supporting the causes of the foundation. There are a lot of volunteers on the foundation who are found out to be cancer survivors and who are very much willing to share their stories to the public.

Please do come and witness the dog mushing activities in Grand Marais and be part of this fun activity for a cause.
