Learning To Podcast
“Podcast” is one of the many words which have become quite popular lately. Actually, if you do not know what it means, you are quite likely not to feel convenient in Internet or high-tech related conversations. Basically, podcast is what lets all the people have access to audio and/or video files via devices such as IPod, mp3 and mp4 for example. Trying to make a comparison between podcasting and reading a newspaper/magazine or watching TV is quite stupid because they have nothing to do with each other. The main difference is that the podcasting gives everyone access to downloadable files even if it is the middle of a business day: all you need to have if you want to these files to be accessible is a personal computer or any other device supporting video files.
When you see the word “pod cast” and the way that it sounds you think that this could be used from people only if they have iPod, but this is a wrong impression. The truth is that you do not need exactly a portable device, you can get an access to it even through your computer at home, and it is also important to know that broadcasting the podcast does not necessarily mean to own one.
Of course, if you want to be able to download podcast files, you have got to have appropriate software. Undoubtedly, the best thing to do is download iTunes. You can easily find it on the website of Apple, the manufacturer of IPods. ITunes is absolutely free but what you should know is that you have to subscribe the podcast before starting to download files. Once you have created your account on the website, all needed updates will be loaded automatically. Hopefully, you realize how helpful, useful and fun the whole stuff is as you can download interesting and new materials any time you want. It is, without any doubt, one of the easiest ways to get a good dose of entertainment.
There is software, which name is the podcatcher and when a certain period of time passes it updates the podcasters that you have. And along with the term podcast, there is another one netcast, which is also used for the last five years. This term is needed so that you can separate the word from the device iPod and not get confused by it. So when you broadcast you can get all kind of information that you need – articles, music, radio and TV series, etc. And if you want better performance you can adjust the sound the way you like it.
But the truth is that the podcasts are by far not used only for entertainment. For example, it could be used for educational purposes by everyone. But let’s not neglect the fact that podcasts are also used for broadcasting talks and sermons (of religious groups for instance), for giving tutorials and HOW-TOs. All these facts serve to show just one thing: the podcasts are the cheapest and easiest way to entertain or even educate yourself, without being annoyed by commercial breaks all the time.
