How to Setup Your Audio Equipment Speakers System To Get Your Money’s Worth from Your Home Audio Equipment!
It is very important that your audio equipment speakers and your home audio equipment are setup correctly. Because we want to hear movie theater sounds at home, we purchase home theater equipment. It is exciting when we feel the thumps of very low sounds, or when we hear each fragment of glass as it falls after being broken. We can spend a lot of money on an audio system, and if we do not set it up properly, we are wasting hard-earned cash.
You probably bought an audio equipment system with as many features as your budget would allow. But, make no mistake. Just having a lot of features and capabilities in your audio system does not guarantee you anything. You need these features to enjoy your system, but if you take time to understand how to setup your equipment it will enhance your listening experience.
There are many different ways to setup up an audio system in a room. There is not just one way that is best. That is because each room where a system is placed has its own individual sound quality. The identical audio system placed in two dissimilar locations will sound differently.
A plan for how your audio equipment and furniture can be arranged in your room is the starting point for a good placement plan. Take the time to re-arrange your setting more than once. Each arrangement can change how your audio system sounds. Your goal is to have the best sound possible, while having your room furnishings in your preferred placement.
After you have placed your furniture and your audio speakers, it is time for a practical test to see if your plan works. Be flexible at this point in the process. If you have more than one option, you will want to try them all eventually. Keep in mind that as you change the room setup, it could have a dramatic effect on the listening enjoyment of your system. Take your time here. You will be happy with the results when it is all said and done.
Keep in mind that your home audio equipment sound should be one that fills the space of the room without having a distinct sound source. So, when there are intended sound effects from the TV or movies, these effects will stand out from the normal sounds. Your audio system is most enjoyable as it naturally reproduces how we distinguish sounds.
The mistake many people make is to just put the audio speakers wherever they fit, or use the speakers more as furniture than functioning audio equipment. Speakers are essential to reproducing sound, and should be used to enhance your listening experience. Keep in mind that everything in the room can work together to augment the listening experience, or decrease the listening experience. This is how you will get your best sound.
It is important to have the speakers of your audio system set at the same level as the listener’s ears. You want the reproduced sound to go from the speaker directly to the listener’s ears. You do not want reflected sound.
When you place your stereo speakers, have them as near as possible be an equal distance from you. It has been proven that even a few feet difference in that distance can be perceived by your hearing senses. And then, as your senses compensate, the sounds you perceive are intentionally less distinct. This is the opposite effect you want because you purchased your home audio equipment to have more distinct sounds.
