Difference between these guitars?

alex asked:

I’m a beginner in guitar, I don’t really know much. What’s the difference between a beginner Yamaha and Ibanez acoustic guitar? How much would a beginner guitar cost? I found a music store that sells a Yamaha acoustic for $179. Is it expensive or is it good enough? They also sell an Ibanez acoustic for $99. They are both steel string and beginners.
Is Fender a good brand?

Fender is a great brand. Their acoustics are nice and their electrics are perfect for playing on the clean channel.

Yamaha and Ibanez are just two different companies that make guitars. I would stay away from Yamaha guitars though, go with the $99 Ibanez. Ibanez acoustics sound great for the price

Both Yamaha and Ibanez make decent steel string acoustic guitars and a lot of beginners start out on one of these.

$179 is a reasonable price for a Yamaha acoustic guitar. The Ibanez acoustic must be on sale. If the Ibanez is a new instrument (not a used one), get it for $99. That’s a good price.

Hi! First of all yes Fender is a really good brand and a lot of famous players use Fender made guitars. Now about your actual question –

I think the main thing here is how much you are willing to spend. Being a beginner I would probably go for the Ibanez Acoustic guitar that is for $99 as they produce a really good resonating sound, have a good body and are of course quite comfortable to play. I would recommend you to buy that one and later when your capable of playing at a certain level, you should be able to purchase a guitar which suits your detailed requirements. And yea i think $99 for that guitar is quite reasonable. Even the $179 for a Yamaha is quite a nice deal as it has hard to find a Yamaha acoustic for less than $200.
Hope it helps you make a better decision. Have fun playing!!

go with what sounds good to you and what feels comfortable, it doesn’t matter if it’s not a well known brand but if it’s not a well known brand don’t go for anything more than 200

choose a guitar that sounds good to you and feels good to you, the most important thing you have to consider is that you have to buy a guitar that makes you want to practice everyday

Any are good for a beginner. As you can tell from my name, I’m a Fender fan! I play a Fender acoustic and bass, and I swear by them. I prefer Ibanez to Yamaha, but for the price Yamaha’s are pretty good. The best thing to do is go in and try them out. Each guitar has a different sound. Some are deeper, richer and some are brighter, it depends on the sound you like! Also, pay attention to the action. How high are the strings from the nack? High action guitars are more difficult for beginners because it’s harder to hold the strings down, especially at the top of the neck. Most Fender acoustics tend to have high action, so be aware of that, too!
