Canon Rebel XSi ” The First EOS Digital SLR Camera that uses both SD and SDHC Storage Devices

Canon Rebel XSi Digital SLR Camera, also known as EOS Kiss X2 and EOS 450D, is a 12.2-megapixel digital single lens reflex camera. It is a part of Canon EOS or Electro-Optical System line of digital SLR cameras. It supersedes the EOS 400D/Digital Rebel XTi and was succeeded by the Canon EOS 500D or the Rebel T1i. It uses Canon Electro-Focus (EF) lenses as well as the short back focus (EF-S) lenses.

It features high-sensitivity 12.2-megapixel image sensor with built-in flash. Working along with the CMOS imaging sensor, DIGIC III Image Processor helps you achieve unparalleled levels of performance in all lighting conditions. DIGIC III Image Processor was developed to maximize performance between the capture and recording stages of digital photography.

It features 14-bit Analog to Digital converter. This A/D conversion can generate extremely smooth-toned digital data. It can produce high-quality RAW images as well as JPEG images, which can be processed with Canons Digital Photo Professional software. Another great feature is the Highlight Tone Priority option that allows you to increase exposure up to one stop.

Auto Light Optimizer is an image-quality tool developed by Canon for their cameras. This is a tool that enables you to enhance image exposure. With this tool, you can lighten dark areas of a scene and still maintain the tonal details of the other parts. The tool is available in all shooting modes including P, Tv, Av and Manual.

The camera offers speedy and precise operation through its instant start up time, fast autofocus and minimal shutter time lag. It can shoot continuously up to 3.5 frames per second. It is also capable of shooting 53 full-resolution JPEGs or 6 RAW images in burst.

With its huge and bright 3.0-inch 230,000-pixel TFT LCD monitor, Canon Rebel XSi digital SLR camera allows 170-degree wide-viewing angle. For precise manual focus, the monitor with its Live View function allows you to magnify any part of the scene by 5x or 10x. Live View also allows you to use Autofocus in two ways. To keep a straight line for your subject, you can use grid overlay.

The advanced and adaptable Auto Focus can be used in two ways: Quick mode and Live mode. For shooting in low light, it is ideal to use the Quick mode as it uses the 9-point AF system. Also, it is perfect for capturing action. On the other hand, the Live mode is a contrast-based AF system, which deals with the sharpness of the image.

The storage devices used in Canon Rebel XSi digital SLR camera are Secure Digital or SD and Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) memory cards. It is notable for being the first EOS digital SLR camera to use both memory cards. Another remarkable feature is its improved viewfinder that provides increased brightness, large overall view and increased clarity. With its Display-off sensor that turns off the LCD whenever you shoot, you are always ready.

Aside from the above mentioned features, there is also the 35-zone TTL full-aperture as well as the E-TTL II flash metering system. These metering systems help you enhance image exposure. The package also comes with a disc containing helpful Canon software programs. The camera also enables you to use other Canon lenses and accessories.
