Cancun is Mexico’s Most Popular Gay Friendly Vacation Spot

If you travel to the Yucatan Peninsula, you will find the beautiful paradise known as Cancun. You will see that the older part of the city is joined by bridges to the newest part of Cancun.

The newest part has become the main part for tourists and has become a resort destination to accommodate the ever-growing number of visitors. It was in 1970 that the tourist trade began to boom and today, there are more the 600,000 people who reside here on the lovely shores of Cancun.

Most give credit to the turquoise colored water that reminds people of crystals and the soft white sandy beaches that entice people to keep coming back for more.

Mexico and Cancun in particular have also found great popularity with gay vacationers. The country has a relaxed and friendly feel and tourists from all parts of the globe and of all walks of life are made to feel welcome here and of course, every tourist absolutely loves the spectacular beaches that Cancun has to offer.

Other than Cancun, Puerto Vallarta and Acapulco are also popular gay friendly tourist destinations, but neither can match the popularity of Cancun. This is largely due to the natural beauty of the city, but it bears mentioning that Cancun offers many more gay friendly spots than do any of the other popular destinations in Mexico; there are beaches and resorts and some of the most lively clubs in the country to be found here.

Most tourists to Cancun stay in the Zona Hotelera, which is where most of the city’s resorts and hotels are located. This strip is within easy striking distance of the exciting nightlife which Cancun has to offer, with many different clubs to visit.

It is said that the hottest spot where gay clubs are concerned is the Karamba Bar. This is one club that has been around since the 1980s and is still going strong. They offer nightly shows and they have an extra large dance floor that is always packed with people dancing the night away.

You can step away from the Karamba later on and wind down your evening at the slightly more low key Picante. This is a much smaller club but it does draw a lively and mixed crowd late at night. Along with the Karamba, Picante is a club you should make a point of visiting on your trip to Cancun.

Cancun also holds some annual gay friendly events, including the Cancun International Gay Festival. This five year tradition is held every May and always attracts a big crowd from the world over.

If you’d rather get away from the cold and visit Cancun in the winter, then the annual Cancun Riviera Maya Gay Fall Festival held in November is definitely worth checking out. Of course, this is Cancun were talking about here; so no matter what time of year you choose to visit, there is no shortage of sightseeing and activities to entertain any tourist, gay or straight.

One thing you do not want to miss while in Cancun would be a trip to the Mayan ruins, truly an extraordinary vision to behold. Cancun is definitely the hottest gay friendly beach in Mexico.
