You should always start with getting to know your instrument. Know how it’s made, know how it all fits together. Learn how to correctly assemble a drum set, learn how to set up your drums. You see, there is so much to learn and we didn’t even start playing. But don’t worry, we’ll get there. The next thing you should learn is how to read drum music. This is essential, if you ever want to become an all rounded drummer. Learn drum tabs and drum notes, it’s most certainly worth it.
