It occurs on March 21st when the sun shines on the Northern and Southern hemispheres equally. At this time, it is possible to see a serpent projection from the sun. This happens when the sun sets.

Witnessing this phenomenon has become a tradition in Chichen Itza. People flock from miles around to see it. The projection of the serpent creates the illusion of floating about the great temple. This event lasts for approximately two minutes, but those two minutes are incredible. This phenomenon is unexplainable and no words that are used to describe it can do justice. This is one site that must be seen to be believed.

People from all corners of the world have voted on this famous Mayan temple city to proclaim it to be one of the new Seven Wonders of the World. This city is still an important historic site and remains important to the Mayans.
