Allen Iverson And His Life Of Fame And Glory
Talent in the NBA is easy to find, but in the case of Allen Iverson there was something more than the average all-star athlete. Being the first pick of the NBA draft, Iverson quickly became a favorite among fans. Even over 10 years later since his initial induction, he continues his career doing what he loves most.
For those who aren’t aware of the scoring potential Iverson has, it is currently at the time of writing around 29 points per game. This is incredible, considering that some of the top scorers in NBA history aren’t too far above Iverson. Even more astounding is the fact that Iverson is just six feet tall- considered a small size in basketball.
The awards that Allen Iverson has been given are many. He has reached the pinnacle of his achievements in obtaining those such as the NBA Most Valuable Player in 2001, one of his best sport years ever. Even when he first came onto the scene he was earning awards, being given the Rookie of the Year award in 1997. Today he continues to earn such coveted awards while playing for the Pistons.
The basketball great wasn’t an overnight success. Iverson has a long history with basketball, starting from his high school days and continuing into college. After proving his worth at Georgetown, Iverson was quickly inducted into the NBA as a first pick for the 76ers, who were pleased with the player’s ability to handle the ball and get points on the board.
When the2004 Olympic games came around, Iverson was picked to play. He did exceptionally well, but regardless, the basketball team ended up claiming a bronze medal due to several losses. In this period, Iverson was punished for arriving to practice late. As history has seen, Iverson has always had a problem with being on time or even coming to practices in general. This is quite amazing, considering he is one of the best players in the NBA.
There has been a lot of controversy shrouding the Iverson name. He has long had a run-in with the law, with charges being brought against him for a wide array of causes. From gun possession to drug charges, Iverson has seen his fair share of the legal system. At one point Iverson was sued for $20 million for a fight that happened in a club. In one of the settlements, the judge ordered Iverson to pay a quarter of a million dollars.
In Conclusion
It would seem that Iverson has done well in achieving fame and fortune for his family name. How he plans on continuing his basketball career and ability to stay free of problems, the future will tell. We can only hope he continues to surpass his basketball idols on the court.
