All You Need To Know About The Tenor Voice

Throughout history there have been many wonderful tenor voices, from the era of the Castrati to the Counter tenor, Lyric Tenor and Dramatic Tenor along with another one I will separate and this is the drawing room tenor, which is just my take on it a lighter limited range tenor voice.

The human voice is truly a unique possession. It can help to take us out of our every day lives and make us feel as though we’ve travelled to a different place. Not only this, but it can make us happy, excited, sad: a whole range of emotions which is what makes the voice so powerful.

In opera, where the story is importantly conveyed in front of your eyes and your ears, the voice has the ability to make you feel the words. In one moment you could be floating in the clouds, and the next the colour of the voice can bring you right back down to the floor.

There is a huge fanatical fan base when it comes to the tenor voice. It’s said that this voice is the most popular, and has the greatest ability to lead the audience towards the right emotions. The females, especially, adore the tenor voice, especially when combined with dashing good looks, a charming personality, and an impressive acting ability. The men in the audience just sit and wish that they knew how to do the same!

So from Giovanni Battista Rubini to Rolando Villazon and beyond there is a wealth of musical talent to dig into and have your rich of fill. But I will warn you it is addictive, once you start really listening to a range of lovely voices and start comparing, your curiosity will drive you on to find yet more of the gems that are out there. And there are hundreds to choose from I’m sure .

I must admit I don’t think that’s a bad thing at all, after all that is why you are here. The love and allure of the Tenor Voice. When you can add a video to the sound of the tenor if you cannot see them live, it takes the whole experience to another level altogether.

I’ve loved listening to the plethora of tenors available over the years, and would like to do justice to as many as I can over time.
