Structurally they are not complicated, having few joints, but which are nevertheless quite stable. Solid wood tables are often not adjustable, but the more modern styles are fully adjustable for height, table top angle and many have additional accessories such as lamps, storage areas and guides.

If you’re thinking of getting one for you home don’t forget that drafting tables are usually quite heavy. If you buy one online you’re likely to have some considerable shipping charges unless you’re able to catch a sale or the store is offering a large discount. For residential use they are often used as decoration once the young drafting student has either upgraded to a more advanced table or has given up the need for the table at home. Any that aren’t sold at garage sales are converted to a nice decorative piece of furniture.

If you are looking for a piece of furniture that may complete the look you want for a home library or an artist’s studio, you might want to consider acquiring antique drafting tables. It is not simply an artifact or art piece for display, but is a complete piece of furniture – with elegance and beauty befitting an antique, and the functionality that makes it a welcome addition to any artist’s workroom. Perfect table for the aspiring artist, crafter or hobbyist. Despite its light and attractive appearance, this table is surprisingly strong, stable and sturdy. Available in two board sizes.

As you may have guessed, folding drafting tables do coincidently fold up. The bonus to this is that you can easily move your table wherever you wish to work. This can be convenient for artists who are on the go and want to work on the site. They are rather light for easy transportation. The downside to these tables is that they are not very sturdy and typically do not last longer than a few years depending on the usage you put into it.

In today’s world of modern technology, drafting tables are combined with computer desks. CAD operations on a computer have taken away from the old fashion ways of designing, but there is still a need for small drafting tables. This is why the combination computer desk and drafting table work well. Many tables even have built in lights.

If you have a camera and enjoy any aspect of the great outdoors, be it animals, oceans, deserts, gnarled tree branches, mushrooms, whatever, you should seriously consider entering some of your photos in one (or all) of these photo contests.
Wildlife Photographer of the Year This year marks the 45th annual Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition held by the National History Museum in London and BBC Wildlife Magazine. The 12 categories (9 main and 3 special) are open to both amateurs and pros, and there are also 3 youth categories. Acceptable subjects are wild animals, landscapes and plants, and the winner and runner-up in each category are awarded 250 and 100, respectively. The “Young Wildlife Photographer of the Year” gets to spend a day out with an acclaimed wildlife photographer, and also receives a cash prize of 500.

There are also three special awards: the Eric Hosking, for photographers aged 18-26, where you submit a 10-image portfolio; the Gerald Durrell Award for Endangered Wildlife, where the subject in your picture needs to be on the 2008 IUCN Red List (critically endangered); and the One Earth Award, which aims to highlight conservation. The winners in the special awards receive 1,000 each.

The Wildlife Photographer of the Year winner gets 10,000, presented at a ceremony at the National History Museum in London. Deadline for 2009 is March 27, but if you don’t make it, don’t worry. Remember, it is an annual event, so you always have next year.

If you have a camera and enjoy any aspect of the great outdoors, be it animals, oceans, deserts, gnarled tree branches, mushrooms, whatever, you should seriously consider entering some of your photos in one (or all) of these photo contests. Most are annual, so if you don’t get to it this year, keep it in mind for next. Not only does that give you a great goal to work towards – you’ll have a chance to see what the pros think about your work, and maybe win one of the many nice prizes.

You may enter up to 3 images for a fee of 20, and the jury selects one winner and one runner-up per category, all of whom receive cash prizes (500 and 250 respectively for the adult main categories).

The youth group (for those under 18) is divided into three categories: 10 years and younger, 11-14 years, and 15-17 years. Here they are looking for photos of any wild animals, plants, or landscapes. It’s free to enter, and you may submit up to 10 photos. The winners and runners up in each category receive 250 and 100, and the Young Wildlife Photographer of the Year gets 500 and a day out with a renowned wildlife photographer.

The three special awards have more specific photo requirements. The Eric Hosking Award is open to photographers 18-26 years of age, and you need to enter a 10-image portfolio of your best work. The One Earth Award puts the spotlight on conservation issues, and for this one, they want thought provoking photos that are memorable and encourage respect for the natural world (don’t think only negative photos here, positive messages are more fun to look at). The Gerald Durrell Award focuses on endangered wildlife, and the species in the photos you submit must be on the 2008 IUCN Red List, listed as critically endangered, vulnerable or near-threatened. One winner per category is selected, and each receives 1,000.

The prize of all prizes, The Wildlife Photographer of the Year, is awarded to the single image the jury finds most striking and memorable of all category winners. The award is presented at a special ceremony at the National History Museum in London, where the winner is presented with a check for 10,000. All winning and commended images will also be part of an exhibit at the museum, which then tours all over the world. The 2009 deadline is March 27.

Windland Smith Rice International Awards Held by Nature’s Best Magazine and the Smithsonian’s Museum of Natural History, this contest is named in memory of conservation advocate and photographer Windland Smith Rice. The 16 categories are open to professional, amateur and youth photographers, and include Animal Antics, Creative Digital, Indigenous Cultures, Oceans, and more. One in particular caught my attention: the Camera Club category, where a group of photographers submit up to 20 photos (no more than 3 each, though). The entry fee is $25/20 images, and prizes include cash, your photo(s) printed in the Awards 2009 Collector’s Edition of Nature’s Best Photography, and possible inclusion in the annual exhibit at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of Natural History in Washington, DC. The 2009 deadline is May 4.

National Wildlife Magazine This annual contest welcomes pros, amateurs and youths to enter their photos (up to 20 images) in any or all of the 7 categories: Mammals, Birds, Other Wildlife, Backyard Habitats, People and Nature, Landscapes and Plant Life, and Global Warming and Wildlife. It’s $15 to enter (for all 20 images) and that also includes a year’s subscription to National Wildlife, the deadline is July 20 2009, and prizes include two Grand Prizes of $5,000 each (one for pros and one for amateurs), and 15 category winner prizes (7 pro, 7 amateur, 1 youth) of $1,000 each.

The Great Outdoors Photo Contest Sponsored by Photo District News and National Geographic, this contest is open to everyone (except residents of Arizona, New Jersey, and Vermont) and the categories are: “Scenes of the Natural World”, “Parks & Safaris”, “Beaches”, “Underwater”, “Islands”, “Plants”, “Animals”, “Insects & Gardens”, and “Outdoor Sports & Activities”. With so much to choose from, you’re bound to find at least one category that fits your style. For amateurs, it’s $12/image or photo essay to enter (a photo essay consists of up to six images that convey a story around a particular theme, and you can submit as many photos and photo essays as you like. Prizes include gift certificates, a five-night stay at the Mandarin Oriental Riviera Maya Hotel in Mexico, camera equipment, and more. The deadline is April 20, 2009, but for an extra $10/image, you can enter until May 4.

he EuroNatur-Foundation’s “Nature Treasures in Europe” This contest is all about European landscapes, plants and animals. There is no cost to enter, and you may submit up to 5 photos before the March 31st deadline. Among the prizes are trips for 2 to Spain and Germany, and the winning photos will be exhibited at Schloss Wolfstein in Freyung (Bavaria) as well as printed in several online and offline publications.

A party is always never complete without a glass of wine. Researches prove that a glass of wine can improve and enlighten a persons mood. Wines have many uses. It is used as an inviting and alcoholic drink or beverage to contribute merriment among parties. It is also used in kitchens as a secret recipe and flavor enhancer to culinary creations. Wines are also used as medicines in the form of antiseptic in some countries. It is sometimes used to dress up a wound because of its alcoholic properties. It is also known that a glass of red wine can help cure heart disease.

Wine is extracted from grapes and fermented in the process fo brewing. The process involves fermentation by breaking down the sugar levels (glucose) of the fruit resulting to its alcoholic content. Wines are usually stored in wood barrels that are made and prepared well to avoid leaks. Barrels are stored in cellars for years. The longer the wine is left to ferment, the grander and more expensive it can be.

The art of wine Tasting is the act of tasting wine to determine its composition, quality and character. Wine tasting is primarily done in order to characterize or classify a wine. Wines are tasted in terms of the 5S: swirl, see, sip, sniff, and savor . Swirl attributes to the consistency of the wine. See attributes to its color. The wine is usually placed on a white background for the taster to see the color carefully. Sip attributes to the wines taste. Sniff attributes to its smell or aroma while Savor attributes to its aftertaste.

There are other varieties of wine like the rice wine which is a starch based variety. Almost any kind of fruit in season can be used to make wine, not just grapes. Wine tasters usually taste up to 22 types of wine at one time to escape from its intoxicating effects. Some wine tasters usually spit the wine after tasting it through the use of a spittoon.

There is a Wine Tasting event in Corballis, Oregon. Everyone is invited to attend to witness this event.

Being successful in the world of crafting is pretty easy just in case you know the tips that could lead you there. One tip and probably the most basic is that a crafter should consider her target market-or if there is indeed a target market for her product. This will save her of the trouble of further going into marketing her product or looking for inexpensive suppliers which will provide useless if there is no target market. Establishing our target market is the first and primary step in setting up a crafting business.

Next is to create a working and trusted marketing strategy for your product or business. This includes making flyers and advertising through word of mouth. Other technology savvy people are using the Internet to market their products online. They put up websites that promote their products. In this way, people from far places will also be informed of your product and they can have the chance to buy from you. Your website should never be without your business name and location in it as it would be entirely useless to do so.

Next is to set up a reliable pricing system. This is perhaps one of the most crucial parts in selling as this will determine your profits and gains. It will determine if you were able to succeed in your writing gig. One of the easiest ways to properly price your material is to compare it with the process of your competitors. This way, you can have knowledge of how much it is generally purchased at. You may beat your competitor by making your price a little lower than them.
People are turning to the practical side of life during these trying times. Mothers especially are looking for ways to save up on her household items. There are a lot of do it yourself household remedies which types spreads from cleaning agents, soaps, shampoos, body washes, baby diapers, baby toys, etc. By being practical, the family is saved from hundreds of dollars a month on purchases. A frugal and practical mother would then turn to creative ideas on how to be practical yet have fun.

There are moms out there who want to save on family finances and part of their solution is to make toys for their kids. Making homemade play dough is very easy as the materials can be found right in your own kitchen! The ingredients for homemade play dough are: 1 cup table salt, 1 ” cups of flour, 4 tablespoons olive oil, 4 teaspoons cream of tartar, food coloring and flavor oil (vanilla, peppermint, almond, etc.) for scent.

Mix all the ingredients together to form a huge paste like “dough”. Grab a handful, indent a side with your finger and add food color after which start molding it in your palm to show the achieved color. Add more drops of food color until you were able to reach your desired color. Do this with the rest while putting a new color so you could have play dough of different shades.

The home made play dough can be kept in a air tight container that can last you for months. You need not to worry if your child was accidentally able to eat some since the materials are obviously safe for them. Homemade play dough’s characteristics is to dry out, if this happens just simple ad drops of water to regain moisture.

You may want to push more on your idea muscles farther! Try painting cute labels for your play dough containers. Remember to put you business name and contact numbers into the labels so it will be easy for other people to contact you for orders. Homemade toys are definitely a craze and many would be curious to try it.
