9/9/9: The Beatles Mono Mixes Album Box Set Introduces The Original Beatles Mono Mixes To A New Generation

In the late 1960s stereo mixes became the standard and mono was left behind for good. But up until then mono was king and The Beatles spent almost all of their time on the mono mixes. The stereo mixes were little more than an afterthought in comparison.

It makes sense to consider these original mono mixes as the albums as they were “meant to be heard.” These are the mixes that the band (and the producers and engineers) were focused on. That’s why so many Beatles fans are so thrilled to finally get to hear these mixes on CD when they are released for sale on September 9th, 2009.

The Beatles Mono Box Set is coming out on 9/9/9 and it will include the band’s first 10 studio albums in their original mono mix on CD for the first time ever. Along with those 10 studio albums, the box set will also include the original stereo mixes of Help! and Rubber Soul along with a non-album song compilation called Mono Masters.

Yellow Submarine, Let It Be, & Abbey Road are not included in this box set because they were never released in mono in the first place.

The original stereo mixes for Help! and Rubber Soul were decided to be not suitable when the Beatles CDs were first released in the 1980s so new mixes were created of these two albums. That means the original stereo mixes (as released in the 1960s on LP) have never made their way onto CD. Until now. That’s why they are included in this mono box set even though they are not mono mixes. It’s to complete the “historical record.”

If you are curious to hear these original stereo mixes of Help! and Rubber Soul then The Beatles Mono Box Set lets you cure that curiosity!

The Mono Masters compilation includes all of the mono mixes of the non-album tracks The Beatles released in the ’60s. At first you may jump to the conclusion that since they didn’t make it on The Beatles studio albums they weren’t very good songs, but that’s definitely not the case.

Many of The Beatles most well known songs are included in the Mono Masters compilation because often left their biggest singles off of their albums. Among the songs you’ll hear: “I Want to Hold Your Hand,” “She Loves You,” “Ticket to Ride,” “Lady Madonna,” “Hey Jude,” & the fast single version of “Revolution.”

The mono mixes of The Beatles albums are not being sold separately but only as a part of The Beatles Mono Box Set.
